OUR COMMUNITY

Cycling Without Age is a worldwide movement that aims to provide joy and vitality to older adults through the magic of the bicycle. Through the simple act of sharing a bike ride, it weaves a sense of community and gathers unique and invaluable stories, unlocked only by the wind and wheels.

JoyRide - A new PBS series
Inspired by
Cycling Without Age
Joyride is a short-form interview series that pairs curious young minds with older adults as they explore the world together on bikes. Each 10-15 minute episode, filmed in either the United States or in Europe, centers around unlocking the lived experiences of today’s older generation, who have become increasingly removed from the flow of daily life. The Joyride series creates new conditions for generations to connect, share experiences, and be inspired by a sense of belonging and nostalgia.

Joyride is created by Danish social entrepreneur Ole Kassow and Brief But Spectacular creator and filmmaker Steve Goldbloom, and is funded by and aired on PBS.
Ole is the founder of the non-profit organization Cycling Without Age that encourages volunteers and senior citizens across the globe to engage in cycle trishaw rides. He took out on the first ride in 2012, and since then has grown the organization across 3,500 locations with 43,000 trained volunteer trishaw pilots in 41 countries.
Steve is the founder of the production company Second Peninsula, which specializes in human-centered storytelling. His flagship series Brief But Spectacular has produced more than 400+ episodes, earned more than 350 million views and an Emmy-nomination. Many of Steve’s most viewed episodes have elevated voices from overlooked communities, especially with focus on the elderly.
