More trishaw options

Christiania - The Classic

The Christiania is a classic in Cycling Without Age. When founder Ole Kassow started the organization in 2012 he used an old rented, de-commissioned Christiania. Cycling Without Age helped Christiania introduce improvements to make it more elderly-friendly, such as a lowerable footrest, softer cushions, and a chat window.

Van Raam Chat - The Smart Bike

The Chat is a trishaw model developed by Van Raam, featuring a 1-meter wide cushion seat, with a front footrest that lowers completely to the ground, activated by the pilot from behind the passenger box. The passenger box rests on a spring suspension, which absorbs some of the road bumps and makes the ride for the passengers more comfortable.

Triobike - A couch on wheels

The Triobike Taxi is easy to ride, steer and comfortable for rider and passenger. It is designed to be practical and stylish at the same time. It’s primarily designed to carry adults, especially elderly people but also anyone with mobility issues.

Nihola Combo - All mobility levels

Nihola is known for their Trishaw and a Flex wheelchair trike and now they are introducing The Combo, which combines the two. Perfect for riding with passengers of different mobility levels.

Triobike Boxter CL

A stylish and planet-friendly alternative to the family car, the Triobike boxter will get you and all you can carry around the city in comfort and with minimal effort. No more rush hour, parking tight spots or delayed trains. Just you, your kids, loads of stuff and the open road. Enjoy the ride in any kind of weather, at any time of year.

The design process

As founder of Cycling Without Age, Ole Kassow has been involved in the design of most of the trishaws that are in use today. The inaugural ride was in a taxi trishaw that was taken out of service ages ago and no alternative existed on the market in 2012. That’s when the journey of finding the perfect match for Cycling Without Age’s community began.

The developments that have resulted in the current selection, comes from feedback from Cycling Without Age affiliates who use the trishaws in all corners of the world. They ask for trishaws that are long lasting, of high quality, comfortable to sit in, easy to ride and most of all: can climb hills.

We continue to this day to work closely with all manufacturers to make sure you get the best possible vehicle, and we welcome your feedback.

How we use the bikes

Trishaw excursions given by our local chapter of Cycling Without Age have been a real benefit to the community. Out in the fresh air, in a rolling conversation, brings out the smiles for passengers, pilots, and observers. Copenhagen Cycles has made it all possible with their superior service and support.

Mark Buley, Friends of Gandy Dancer State Trail, Wisconsin, USA

Our weekly rides truly uplift our nursing home residents, especially those with dementia, for whom these rides provide a sense of peace they can’t find on their own. A simple bike ride can ease their restlessness and bring smiles that light up their faces.

We are thrilled to now have four bikes, including the new Nihola Combo. This specialized bike allows us to include wheelchair users, ensuring everyone gets the chance to experience the freedom of “wind in their hair.
